T is a fact politics in developing countries are much more corrupt than in countries that are developed. This is one of the biggest factors that contribute to poverty in these countries. And, yet, it is because of poverty that these countries are corrupt. Corruption cannot have any benefits to the country in question. There can only be negative aspects. For example, let's take the country of Africa, where political corruption reigns. This is a country rich in priced nature resources. Yet, it is a country that struggles daily for existence. Political corruption has an adverse effect on everyone in the country. What are the reasons for this and how does it affect the people? What is political corruption? There is no single definition for the term. This is because what may seem corrupt to one may not seem as corrupt to another. However, here is the simplest form of defining corruption. Corruption is behavior in a dishonest manner that typically involves bribery. This is done mainly by politicians who look to gain nothing for the country, but everything for themselves. They deal in the falsification of documents, manipulations, villainy and anything and everything that gets them what they are after. In other, clearer terms, political corruption is anything that is done in an underhanded manner for the politician's advantage. This factor raises the question, "why are politicians so corrupt?" The causes of political corruption are numerous. Poverty is the main cause of corruption. Everyone wants to make money. And they try and do so by any means possible. Money guarantees comforts and an easy life. This is what many politicians and those involved with them are looking for. In addition, people involved with politician also know if the politician is corrupt, he will get what he wants, and being with the politician guarantees these people financial gain too. Some of the poorest countries in the world and the most corrupt. For example, Nigeria, one of the poorest countries in the world, is the 8th most corrupt. Illiteracy is another reason for political corruption. This term defines a person's inability to understand a particular subject or activity. Some of the most corrupt countries in the world have the most number of illiterate people. For example, countries, such as, Nigeria has law enforcement officers who have no idea what is going on. Because of their insecurities, they accept bribes from people who wish to get out of being charged for various misdemeanors. The same goes for the politicians. Politicians in various third world countries take advantage of people's illiteracy and ignorance. They promise them everything and do not deliver because they know these people are gullible and can be used for their personal gains. What the politicians do not realize or care about is their behavior is known and frowned upon by the rest of the world. The weak management of the government is another cause for political corruption in third world countries. Anti-corruption agencies are managed by various family members of the politicians and this gives them the advantage to do as they please. As the right people are not appointed for these jobs, corruption reigns and the country suffers as a result. There are so many reasons for political corruption and so many solutions. But, none of the solutions are welcomed by politicians as to do so, will prevent them from gaining personally. Political corruption has reached new heights in the third world. As a result, these countries, and their people, suffer greatly while the politicians thrive.

  • Are there changes needed in word choice, sentence length and structure, etc.?
  • Are the quotations (if required) properly cited?
  • Has the essay been proofread for spelling, punctuation, grammar, etc.?
  • Does the essay have an interesting and appropriate title?
